Did you know?

The now iconic square shape of the original drop was born out of hardship, as the founding family was struggling with the aftermath of the Second World War. The purchase of a new machine that could shape the drops into easy-to-eat round shapes was not financially possible. Hardship made the Swiss inventive, and so Emil Richterich cut the individual drops into bite-sized pieces with a knife without further ado. Today Ricola is known across the world for this unusual drop shape and in many countries this product is still the number one.
