Six Core Topics
Our approach to sustainability consists of six core topics. Below is a snapshot of the progress we’ve made towards some targets in 2023 and 2024. Our sustainability efforts are an ongoing process that is constantly evolving. Our latest report provides a transparent overview of what we’ve achieved so far, the challenges we face, and the lessons we’ve learned along the way.

1. Agriculture
91% of our herbs met our agricultural principles in 2024. Learn more about the sourcing of our herbs, agricultural principles, and other raw materials, such as sugar.
2. Circularity
5.7% of our total production volume results in waste (mainly food waste but also packaging, etc.), read more about the steps we are taking to reduce waste here.
3. Packaging
85.6% of materials used in our packaging had sustainable characteristics in 2024, such as; recycled content, FSC certification, and bluemint® Steel. Learn more about our approach to reducing material consumption, increasing the use of responsible materials, and enhancing recyclability.
4. Climate
12% less greenhouse gas emissions in 2024 compared to 2022 – thanks to efforts in tackling Scope 3 emissions. Discover the adaptations we’re making to continue lowering emissions.
5. Water
9.9% less water used per 100kg of herbal drops in 2024 compared with 2023. See the efforts we’re taking to make every drop count here.
6. Supply Chain / Sourcing

Sourcing Sugar with IP-SUISSE
Since 1989, IP-SUISSE has defined guidelines for environmentally friendly farming in Switzerland, because its farmers – more than 18,500 – work towards strict ecological standards, which match Ricola’s own vision for environmentally friendly agriculture as outlined in our agricultural principles.
