Laufen, 5 June 2025 - From August, the beloved natural herb flavour from Ricola will also be available for drinks bottles – initially launching in Austria and France, followed by Switzerland and other markets. Ricola Drink Cubes are the latest innovation from the Swiss herb speciality manufacturer. In collaboration with waterdrop®, the dissolvable cubes ensure a hydration routine with vitamins, combined with the taste of Swiss Alpine herbs and no added sugar. They help to maintain adequate daily hydration. 

How would the wonderful Ricola herbs taste in a refreshing drink? This is precisely the question that Ricola's internal research and development team sought to answer in collaboration with the Austrian beverage company waterdrop®. 

Ricola Drink Cubes, the result of an intensive development collaboration, will be launched in Austria and France in August 2025. The Swiss market debut of the new Drink Cubes in retail is slated for spring 2026. Ricola and waterdrop® are jointly responsible for manufacturing and distributing the product. While Ricola will be selling the Drink Cubes in stores, waterdrop® will be offering them through its online shop and its own brand stores. 

 

The power of herbs combined with fruits and vitamins 

The dissolvable Drink Cubes combine the full power of selected Swiss Alpine herbs with aromatic fruit and vitamins. One Ricola Drink Cube is designed to flavour 400 to 600 millilitres of water. The result is a beverage that offers a soothing taste sensation and endless enjoyment, completely without sugar. 

 

A new chapter for Ricola 

With its Drink Cubes, Ricola is entering the market segment for refreshing beverages, thereby creating another pillar of strength alongside its traditional core business of herbal drops and teas.

Ricola is always evaluating opportunities to expand its portfolio with innovative products. At the end of 2023, the herb drop manufacturer came to know waterdrop®. The Austrian company specialises in the production of so-called microdrinks. “Ricola and waterdrop® complement each other perfectly,” says Martin Murray, founder and CEO of waterdrop®. “With Ricola Drink Cubes, our companies have co-created a delicious and functional product.” 

 

An upgrade for the daily hydration routine 

Many people find it challenging to drink enough water – often because they miss flavour and variety. Yet adequate hydration – ideally with unsweetened beverages – is not only good for quenching thirst, but also crucial for everyone on a daily basis.

The herbal blend contained in Ricola Drink Cubes is sourced from farmers in the Swiss Alps. As with all Ricola products, the herbs are cultivated in compliance with Bio Suisse standards and dried and processed in Switzerland. The added B and C complex vitamins contribute to normal immune and nervous system function and support a normal energy metabolism, among other benefits.
