Love your lips: The ‘perfect’ lip balm can be hard to find, so why not make your own using your favourite blend of herbs and essential oils? Just remember to write down your recipe.

Herbal lip balm

Ingredients

Makes 4 small pots of lip balm

40 g

Shea butter

3 tbsp

Almond oil

1 tbsp

Dried herbs (e.g. chamomile, lemon balm, marigold etc.)

5 drops

Of your favourite essential oil e.g. peppermint, lemon, lavender or lime

Equipment

  • 4 small 50 ml pots with lids

  • 4 labels

1. Mix the shea butter with the almond oil and gently melt over a bain-marie.

2. Add the dried herbs to the warm, melted oil mixture and leave to steep for 30 minutes.

3. Sieve the oil mixture.

4. Add the essential oil to the mixture and blend well.

5. Pour the blended lip balm into the jars and leave to cool in the fridge for 30 minutes until hardened. Add the lids and labels.
