Ploughing the fields

We don’t mind being picky – at least when it comes to selecting our herb farmers and cultivating our herbs.

Our herb fields are located in the Swiss mountains. Depending on the size and location of the cultivation area, our herb farmers use automated processes to cultivate the fields or work by hand. After ploughing and scarifying the fields, the farmers start planting the herb seedlings. Herb varieties are constantly rotated to ensure the plants remain strong and healthy. Ricola is committed to natural cultivation methods and rejects the use of artificial pesticides to compensate for deficiencies in soil nutrients.
