The family-run company has its headquarters in Laufen, near Basel, Switzerland. Subsidiary companies are located in Italy, the UK, Asia and the USA. Founded in 1930 by Emil Richterich, the company is still under family ownership. Executive board president and third generation family member Felix Richterich directs the fortunes of the company today. This is why Ricola values high quality basic ingredients, in particular the herbs, which are cultivated in the Swiss mountains using organic farming methods.

Ricola factory visits
For public hygiene reasons, unfortunately no visits of our production sites are allowed. As a producer of food products and medicines Ricola is bound by the strict rules for hygiene set out by Swissmedic. We regret that our production facilities are not equipped with the necessary infrastructure for visitors’ guided tours such as galleries, walkways or an information center. Due to hygiene and legal guidelines for pharmaceutical production, we are therefore not permitted to arrange factory visits.
